Mt. Everest

Quite a few months back, a gal at my gym bought her 1st PortaPocket carrying case and this October found me again to ask about getting another. This one was going to be for her & her husband's passports. Being a travel-lover too, of course I had to ask where they were headed...and I wasn't exactly expecting this answer!
But wow do I give them a ton of credit for entertaining the thought of even going to the tallest mountain in the world, even if their goal is 'only' to make it up to Base Camp! With my having been at ~10,000' on Hawaii's Mt. Haleakala a few years ago and feeling oxygen-challenged then, I can't even fathom the idea of how it'd be at being at elevation 17,000+! So I thought of them daily, for the three weeks while they were gone, while they were out conquering...
just hoping everything was ok. In the end, back in the US and all in one piece, Dorothy related to me how she, her husband and friends found their adventure a bit more difficult than they had expected, especially psychologically, but gratified at their achievements and enriched by the experience. They ended up making it up past Base Camp to ~18,000' on the Nepal side, and taking 12 days for that circuit. What a trip (in more ways than one)! I was also happy to hear that her PortaPocket worked great -- I just wish I had a picture of it on the mountain top to start a PortaPocket-around-the-world section for the website, too! ;-)

The Beginning...
Actually, this is about a year and a half into the "beginning" but the beginning of a Blog is a beginning none-the-less. Wow, has this been an Odyssey. Getting a new product off the ground definitely fits into the 1% inspiration/99% perspiration paradigm. But it's been exciting and fulfilling and I wouldn't have it any other way. Who would've thought a little mishap with an errant hygiene item would spawn such an outcome?! Never a dull moment, that's for sure...!
